I guess, each of portrait photos created by me can be called psychological. Every photo for me is a whole story, which I try to tell to the beholder. It’s a snapshot of the human inner state at the moment when the portrait was taken. Human face is so interesting: one emotion replaces another many times a second, it’s like a flow. My mission as a portrait photographer is to capture these states, and show it honestly, with the best feelings to person in front of my lens.
I would say that portrait photographer takes pictures of his own reflection in a person he works with. We can see in other people only what we have inside ourselves. That’s why the only way to make a really good and deep portrait is to be on the same wavelength with a person you photograph. And frequency of this wave should be high.
